Topo Maps & Aerial Maps

Topo Maps, or Topographic maps are maps that display the terrain or topography of a region by use of contour lines. Topo Maps are therefore also referred to as contour Maps. These contour lines connect points of equal elevation and hence give us an idea of the geographic terrain. There are two types of contour lines on a Topo Maps. Regular contour lines are thin brown lines, whereas thick brown lines are the index contour lines. There are numbers written in brown along the contour lines which indicate elevation of the line above sea level.
